OVERVIEW<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

The primary objective of VinUni\u2019s Seed Grant Program is to offer initial funding for the formulation of external funding proposals. Its goal is to assist in generating preliminary outcomes, thereby enhancing the likelihood of proposal success.<\/span>\u202f<\/span> The Grant is meant to help VinUni faculty and\/or researchers to kickstart their research and proposal development process, but it will not fund ongoing or indefinitely open-ended research endeavors.
\n<\/span>
\nThe themes for this AY 24-25 will focus on:
\n(1) Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainability;
\n(2) Personalized Healthcare, Precision Medicine, Therapeutics and Health Systems;
\n(3) Green Transformation and Green Growth.\u202f\u202f<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY <\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Each faculty member <\/span>and\/or researcher <\/span>may <\/span>submit<\/span> a proposal for only one project category per funding cycle and can be awarded one project per category throughout their tenure at VinUni.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

FUNDING AMOUNT<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Starting AY24-25,\u202fVinUni\u2019s\u202finternal funding will be collectively referred to as the Seed Grant Program, with new funding categories formed based<\/span>\u202f<\/span>on the potential reach and funding amount of the supported initiatives. This will enable more simplified and efficient management of research projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SIGNATURE\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nThese projects must have a <\/span>national impact and potential for international recognition<\/span><\/b>, attract substantial external funding, involve high interdisciplinary issues, address pressing issues, and <\/span>create signature stories for VinUni<\/span><\/b>. They aim to advance research excellence with academic and socioeconomic impacts within Vietnam and globally. The expected outcomes include <\/span>large-scale impact, prototype development<\/span><\/b>, and excellent research findings published in Nature, Science, Cell,<\/span> ranked A\/A* conferences, or oth<\/span>er top 5% of leading journals classified by field, discipline\/sub-discipline by Scimago.\u202f\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Signature track’s philosophy is to have each project incorporate <\/span>cross\u202fcolleges.<\/span><\/b> The Signature track allows for a minimum of three Principal Investigators. The Signature track PIs should be able to become a Key Research Group (<\/span>in Vietnamese: Nh\u00f3m nghi\u00ean c\u1ee9u m\u1ea1nh<\/span><\/i>) as per Vietnam’s Decree 109\/2022\/N\u0110-CP.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applicants must include external funding application\u202fas an outcome and\/or matching fund in their submission.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

3<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nUp to $150,000 per project\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
CRITICAL\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nThe primary aim of these projects is to cultivate <\/span>excellent researchers <\/span><\/b>for VinUni by promoting <\/span>interdisciplinary collaboration <\/span><\/b>and designing for immediate real-world applications. They seek to embed a <\/span>sustainable research culture and environment <\/span><\/b>that supports excellence in research across the university. The projects are committed to delivering high-quality publications, high-ranking conference papers (prioritizing Q1 SCOPUS Index journals and rank A\/A* conferences), and Intellectual Property.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Outcome of the proposals under the Critical track must contribute to increasing VinUni\u2019s <\/span>Academic reputation<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>number of publications<\/span><\/a> for QS World University Rankings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

4<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nUp to $50,000 per project\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
EMERGING\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nThese projects support <\/span>talent development and research capacity building<\/span><\/b>, fostering collaboration and PROPELLING development. Expected outcomes include professional growth for<\/span> early-career researchers<\/span><\/b>. This program offers an accelerated pathway for researchers to kickstart their projects and enables researchers to transform their ideas into <\/span>tangible outcomes, fostering innovation<\/span><\/b> and exploration.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n5<\/span> – 10<\/span><\/td>\nFrom $5,000 to $20,000 for early-career researchers\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
