He highlighted the strong commitments made at <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">COP21 (2015)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">COP26<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to achieve <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">net-zero emissions by 2050<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, with Vietnam committed to significantly reducing its reliance on coal and increasing the use of renewable energy.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He also discussed the massive financial resources required for this transition. According to the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">International Energy Agency (IEA)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, trillions of dollars in investment are needed annually to reach the net-zero target. For Vietnam, it is estimated that <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">$12 to $24.2 billion<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> per year will be required from 2021 to 2030 for clean energy production, along with additional investments in grid infrastructure. The <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is a key initiative aimed at accelerating carbon emission reductions in the electricity sector, with Vietnam committed to limiting coal power capacity to <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">30.2 GW<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and achieving <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">47% renewable electricity production by 2030<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. JETP could provide Vietnam with <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">$15.5 billion<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in financial support, with half from public and half from private sources.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">France plays a significant role as a bilateral partner in Vietnam\u2019s energy transition. Through the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">French Development Agency (AFD)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, France has committed <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u20ac500 million<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> over the next five years to support Vietnam\u2019s electricity infrastructure and renewable energy development.
