At the <\/span>Franconomics International Forum<\/span><\/b>, held at <\/span>VinUniversity<\/span><\/b> on October 16, 2024, <\/span>Ms. Adjara Diouf<\/span><\/b>, representing the <\/span>International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF)<\/span><\/b>, delivered a keynote address on sustainable tourism and energy transition. She conveyed greetings from <\/span>Mr. Edgar Doerig, OIF\u2019s Representative for Asia and the Pacific, and emphasized the forum\u2019s theme, <\/span>“Renewable Energy: Scenario for a Green Future”<\/span><\/b>, which aligns with <\/span>United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7<\/span><\/b>, focused on ensuring reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy for all.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ms. Diouf highlighted OIF\u2019s ongoing commitment to renewable energy through its subsidiary, the <\/span>Francophonie Institute for Sustainable Development (IFDD)<\/span><\/b>, which has been instrumental in helping member states develop policies for sustainable energy access and improving energy efficiency. Since the <\/span>Francophone Heads of State Summit in Djerba in 2022<\/span><\/b>, sustainable development has been a core focus of OIF\u2019s activities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to energy transition, Ms. Diouf emphasized OIF’s work in <\/span>sustainable tourism<\/span><\/b>. She introduced the <\/span>“Destination Eco-Talents”<\/span><\/b> initiative, which aims to establish multifunctional centers in several countries, including Vietnam, to raise awareness, provide training, and build capacity within local communities. These centers will support sustainable tourism development by creating jobs, especially for youth and women, while preserving natural and cultural resources.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ms. Diouf stressed that combining <\/span>renewable energy<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>sustainable tourism<\/span><\/b> is key to achieving long-term economic growth while protecting the environment. The <\/span>“Destination Eco-Talents”<\/span><\/b> project will help local communities improve their capabilities and reduce the environmental impact of tourism. The first centers are expected to launch in <\/span>2025<\/span><\/b> in <\/span>Cambodia<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>Cabo Verde<\/span><\/b>, <\/span>Comoros<\/span><\/b>, and <\/span>Vietnam<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
