Prof. Alessio Del Bue will share insights into:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Intelligent environments<\/strong>, such as smart rooms, designed for passive patient monitoring and frailty index computation to aid clinical decision-making.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Robotic platforms<\/strong>, seamlessly integrated with these environments, leveraging cutting-edge AI techniques, including <strong>Large Language Models (LLMs)<\/strong> and <strong>Vision-Language Models (VLMs)<\/strong> for adaptive and user-driven assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Research challenges in embedding autonomy and intelligence into robotics, including <strong>active vision<\/strong> for task-solving and <strong>self-learning<\/strong> for perception in unknown environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This session highlights the transformative potential of <strong>Embodied AI<\/strong> in redefining human-centered assistance in healthcare and beyond.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>About the Speaker<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Prof. Alessio Del Bue<\/strong> is the Director of the <strong>PAVIS (Pattern Analysis and computer VISion)<\/strong> research unit at the <strong>Italian Institute of Technology (IIT)<\/strong> in Genova, Italy. He holds a Ph.D. from Queen Mary University of London and previously worked at the Institute for Systems and Robotics at the Instituto Superior T\u00e9cnico in Lisbon, Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Del Bue specializes in <strong>3D scene understanding<\/strong> from multi-modal inputs to support the development of assistive AI systems. He has co-authored over <strong>150 scientific publications<\/strong>, serves on technical committees for prestigious computer vision conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV), and is an associate editor for the <strong>IEEE Transactions on Image Processing (TIP)<\/strong> journal.
