Dive into Data Science Wonders
In today’s digital era, Data science is growing rapidly and opening up endless possibilities to address major life challenges, becoming one of the important skills in various fields such as business, technology, tourism, health, and more.
With the mission of bringing the practical applications of data science closer to life and discovering hidden young talents in this field, the “Dive into Data Science Wonders” Contest was launched by the College of Engineering & Computer Science and attracted the participation of many high school students, selected the Top 10 finalists for the Mini Test 1.
Following the success of Mini Contest 1, the Mini Contest 2 has officially kicked off. This continuation, with the theme “Innovating with Data Science,” promises to bring more challenges, exciting experiences, and attractive prizes for high school students nationwide.
The Mini Contest 2 aims to provide high schoolers in Vietnam with the opportunity to showcase their ability to showcase creative thinking, problem-solving, and the practical application of Data Science in addressing real-world challenges. Students are to prepare a project proposal outlining the problem, data sources, possible data science methodologies, expected outcomes, and potential impact. Suggested problems must be Vietnamese focused within themes such as education, health, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing or sustainability.
Top 10 finalists will be invited to an online pitching session before a panel of experts in April, 2024.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to students in all high schools in Vietnam, including international high schools.
- Students can participate individually, or as a group of up to 5.

No members of a team can already have offers for undergraduate degrees at the College of Engineering and Computer Science
Submission Requirements
- Your submission presents a project proposal. No prototyping, data analysis or data visualisation is to be included.
- The submission is a 2-page discussion paper on PDF and a 4-minute video presentation on MP4.
- All submissions (the registration form, paper, and a video) must be in English both verbally and in writing.
- All submissions must be entered via submission form by the submission date. If you need any support, please contact the organizer (cecs@vinuni.edu.vn).
Prizes
- 1st Prize: 25 million VND
- 2nd Prize: 20 million VND
- 3rd Prize: 15 million VND
- Top 3 finalists will receive a certificate of participation and invitation to regular round to VinUni’s College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) bachelor programs.
- Top 3 finalists will also receive a 5% increase to their scholarship if accepted to the bachelor program at CECS (Learn more about Bachelor programs of CECS)
