College of Arts and Sciences and Academic Engagement and Global Exchange Department are pleased to inform you that on the 5th, 6th and 7th of December 2022, we are going to welcome 17 Singapore Management University’s students coming to VinUni under SMU-X Programme and Cultural Awareness and Exchange Activities with VinUni peers. During their visit, they will experience several activities with full support from CAS & AE leaders and staff (for more details, please refer to the summarised agenda below).

Singapore Management University faculty and a group of 17 students will visit VinUni during December 5 – 7, 2022 for a short-term inbound program.

 

 

Speaker Profile:

Dr. Vo Tri Thanh is an expert with extensive experience in macroeconomic policies & financial systems. For over 40 years, he has been well known as an economic analysing expert and consultant on issues related to trade liberalisation, regional & international economic integration, institution reform and economic development.

Starting his career in 1982 as a lecturer specialising in Econometric methods, he moved very quickly in his career ladder after completing his Masters and a PhD degree in Economics from the Australian National University.

Since then, Dr. Vo Tri Thanh has been contributing to the national economy by taking several crucial positions at the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) such as Deputy Director of the Center for Applied Economics, Head of Economic Forecasting and Policy Analysis Unit, Head of the Department of Macroeconomic Policy and Integration Studies, Vice President & senior expert of CIEM, Member of the National Financial and Monetary Policy Advisory Council, Member of Economic Advisory Group of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Commission for Pacific Economic Cooperation (VNCPEC)…

In his glorious career, he has been recognised by many prestigious awards in economic research including a second prize for the most Outstanding Research on Development topic “Interactions, Global Economic Architecture and Millennium Development Goals” GDN in 2005; Australian National University Award for his contributions to the development of Vietnam’s economy in November 2008; United Nations Special Prize for Policy Impact on Human Development Report 2001.

Dr. Vo Tri Thanh has also published many pieces of research, some of them are “Financial Regulations, Financial Structure, and Effectiveness of Monetary Policy in Vietnam” (2013), “From AEC to RCEP: Implications for the CLMV” (2016), “Supporting and Enhancing Regional Surveillance for ASEAN + 3 and Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation: Country Report for Vietnam” (2014), “Vietnam 2035: Toward Prosperity, Creativity, Equity, and Democracy” (2016) & “30 Years of Attracting FDI: Some Thoughts and Looking Forward” (2018) etc. His work “Completing and developing capital and monetary markets in Vietnam” (2004) has been submitted to the Prime Minister and some of his recommendations are implemented into tasks for ministries.
