Faculty Learning & Development

The University acknowledges the need for encouraging and supporting the professional development activities of the Faculty that are related to the employment at VinUni, and will assist them in their promotion to next level. These include but are not limited to, reduced tuition fee offered for the courses/programs offered by VinUni, attendance at professional conferences and other activities.

Each academic at VinUniversity will need to develop a professional development plan and then revise annually to be discussed at annual performance review meeting. The plan will base on his/her career goals and reflection on the roles and opportunities available. Support from the mentors/supervisor will be available and where feasible resources and protected time will be available to pursue areas for professional development. Faculty development programs can be offered by the Vice Provost Office and/or the respective Colleges.

Faculty development activities need to be aligned with the international standards defined by the global academic community to achieve international excellence.

Each year, each faculty member is entitled to a research allowance according to the level of appointment for research and professional development fund (RPF). These funds may be used at their discretion for the purchase of equipment, subsidization of research expenses, professional workshops, subscription to professional societies, travel to meetings to support the professional advancement, hiring of research assistants, and other uses support teaching and research.

Faculty can also submit research proposal to obtain Seed grant from the University. The Research Administration will review the proposal and can allocate up to 100 000 USD for a research project.

For teaching support, the Center of Learning and Teaching Excellence provides many seminars, workshops, discussions, forums… on teaching pedagogies, education technologies, and teaching and assessment consultation.
