Cohort 5, join us from September 7th to 13th for a week designed to help you transition smoothly into university life. Through a variety of activities, you’ll meet new friends, discover your passions, and develop the skills you need to succeed.

Day 1: 6 September 2024 (friday)

MOVE-IN DAY

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM (CBM+CECS); 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (CHS+CAS)

The start of a new academic year has arrived, and the campus is buzzing with activity as the incoming class of college students gathers for move-in day. Students will be assisted by a team of enthusiastic staff members through the necessary check-in procedures. This is the start for the new students to embark on this exciting chapter at VinUniversity, filled with the promise of personal growth, academic exploration, and unforgettable experiences.

Day 3: 9 September 2024 (Monday)

WELCOME SESSION & VINCORE INTRODUCTION

On Day 3, we will officially welcome our new students with the special Welcome Session and VinCore introduction. You’ll have the chance to meet VinUni esteemed leaders, including President Lê Mai Lan, Provost David Bangsberg and the Dean/Vice Dean of your College. You will also learn about the innovative VinCore program, designed to cultivate well-rounded individuals with excellent qualities.

TEAM BUILDING

Time: 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: Football Pitch
Dresscode: Sporty/comfortable (recommended)

The Team Building is an opportunity to connect with your peers, build relationships, and develop essential skills for success in college and beyond. Various activities are designed to encourage collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. Students will engage in friendly competition and forge lasting bonds with your fellow students, overcome challenges and strategically strive to have the highest score as a team.

Day 4: 10 September 2024 (Tuesday)

IDP SHAPE YOUR FUTURE

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM
Location: Auditorium
Dresscode: Freestyle

This session is designed to equip you with essential tools for your academic and personal growth. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Advising Program and how it can support your journey. We will delve into the concept of IKIGAI to help you find your purpose and passion. This will be followed by a practical session on creating your own Individual Development Plan (IDP), with assistance from your Advisors and senior students.

REGISTRAR TRAINING

Time: 2 PM – 3 PM
Location: Auditorium
Dresscode: Freestyle

This orientation session is designed to familiarize you with essential registration procedures and policies. You will gain a clear understanding of how to enroll in courses, access important academic resources, and navigate the student information system.

CLUB FAIR

Time: 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Location: Sports Complex
Dresscode: Freestyle

Get ready to dive into the heart of VinUni’s vibrant club scene! Join us for an afternoon of fun, excitement, and discovery at the Sport Complex. Explore a wide range of clubs, meet like-minded students, and uncover your hidden talents. From captivating performances to interactive activities, there’s something for everyone. Day 5: 11 September 2024 (Wednesday)

Academic Integrity & AI learning

Time: 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Location: Auditorium

Join us for an engaging and interactive session on academic integrity in the era of AI. You’ll also learn about VinUni’s policies to uphold academic integrity.
*Note: Bring your laptop (or mobile device). Before the session, please sign up for a generative AI tool of your choice (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, POE, etc.).

Code of Conduct

Time: 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM
Location: Auditorium

This session is designed to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all members of our community. We will explore the importance of mutual respect, ethical behavior, and responsible conduct. Let's stay informed of VinUni Code of Conduct and commit to creating a community where everyone thrives.

Work-study orientation

Time: 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM (CBM+CAS); 3:00 PM -3:45 PM (CECS+CHS)
Location: Room E403

This session will provide an in-depth overview of the Work-Study Program at VinUniversity, including eligibility requirements, application process, benefits and more. Get ready to develop professional skills, while building your resume, and earning money to support your education.

Library & Learning resource

Time: 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM (CECS+CHS); 3:00 PM -3:45 PM (CBM+CAS)
Location: Room 24/7

This session will equip you with the knowledge and skills to navigate the vast world of information resources available to you. Learn about the library's facilities, online databases, and research tools. Discover how to find, evaluate, and cite information effectively.

Info session for international students

Time: 4 PM - 4:45 PM
Location: Room C203

We will introduce you to life in Vietnam and on campus, providing essential information and support to ensure a smooth transition. Come ready to meet fellow international students, learn about Vietnamese culture, and discover the resources available to help you succeed.

COLLEGE DAY

Time & location: Will be informed by the College

This is your opportunity to dive deeper into your chosen field of study and connect with the faculty and fellow students who will shape your academic journey.

Each college has prepared a unique program designed to introduce you to their curriculum, research opportunities, and vibrant community. This is your chance to build lasting connections, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the exciting path ahead.

Day 7: 13 September 2024 (Friday)

GALA DINNER

Time: 6:30 PM – 9 PM
Location: Outdoor Amphitheatre
Dresscode: Casual

Join us for a spectacular closing ceremony of the Week of Welcome! The Gala Dinner promises an unforgettable evening filled with entertainment, competition, and celebration.

Enjoy a delicious dinner, witness dazzling performances from each house, and cheer on your favorite contestants. The night will culminate in the highly anticipated award ceremony, where we will crown the winners of VinUni Got Talent and the house competitions. Get ready for a night of fun, excitement, and unforgettable moments!

The Week of Welcome (WOW) is part of the OASIS program, an orientation program designed to introduce new students to VinUni, its culture, resources, and student life. It’s a mandatory series of events for all new students, providing great opportunity to meet new friends, faculty, and staff.

Yes, it is mandatory for all VinUni students to participate in all activities in the Week of Welcome.
