“2022 Community Service-Learning Collaboration – Vietnam Adverse Childhood Experiences Pathfinders (VACEP)” – one of the Community Service Learning (CSL@VINUNI) programs that VinUniversity co-creates with SCDI and Cornell University for VinUni students in the framework of OASIS.
From December 2021 to January 2022, the VACEP team was established by the Centre for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) with the support of VinUniversity and Cornell University. Six Cornell University students and three VinUniversity students curated literature on Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE). In addition, students researched articles in various journals in different disciplines and fields of study on prevention, intervention, and adulthood outcomes due to ACE.
This Summer cohort (VACEP2) will build upon the work initiated by the previous group focusing on Intervention. VACEP2 will be conducting research as a team remotely to prepare for the in-country, in-person experience in Vietnam for our Cornell counterparts during the last 3 weeks of the Program. The research will dive deeper into intervention strategies. Students will be divided into three groups to propose possible intervention strategies for SCDI. They will then explore further and possibly pilot the proposed strategies in the upcoming years.
The Kick-off event of VACEP 2 is organized on Monday, June 27th with participation of VinUni leaders, Cornell University leaders and SCDI representatives – to officially kick start the VACEP2 project this summer.
